Orion ERP Scores Over Navision

Mumbai,
Cyberstar Infocom has
selected ICICI's Orion- an integrated ERP that falls
within the budget limits and yet fulfills the needs of its aggressive business
growth.
Speaking to CXOtoday, RK Rathi, director, Cyberstar Infocom Ltd., said,
"We have selected ICICI's Orion ERP to handle
our massive growth plans given the fact that in the last six months we have
grown from 4 to 11 branches and plan to add 10 more branches within a year.
Detailing on the
need for an integrated ERP, Rathi explained, "We
had been using separate applications (FACT) for various processes like finance,
sales and distribution etc., from Vedika software,
since the last five years."
"Since we are
growing at a rapid pace, we realized the need for an integrated application
that would make data available online for decision making. We also wanted
speedy availability of data to control business operations," affirmed Rathi.
Cyberstar has purchased 20 user licenses of Orion
with distribution specific modules. ICICI Infotech is
currently involved in implementing the ERP after customizing it according to
the company s requirements.
Says
Rathi, "We had to do a lot of homework before
the actual customization of the application started. This involved analyzing existing
processes, identifying the lacunae in the processes, and establishing expected
processes. Only then we started observing demonstration of various ERP
applications and finally selected Orion due its track record in enterprises
involved in distribution business."
The company had also
evaluated Microsoft's Navision, which according to Rathi lost out on the pricing aspect. The Orion initiative
has come at a paltry expense of Rs 20 lakh including
software, hardware, implementation and support costs.
The solution resides
on an Oracle 9i database on a IBM Xeon server. The
Bangalore-based distributor of computer peripherals is planning to purchase
additional servers in the near future.
